Alan Spencer's Biography
Alan Spencer’s early career was with the GPO/Post Office Telecommunications (now BT) as a telecommunications engineer. After leaving BT, Alan worked for a number of companies, including Logica (project managed the design and installation of traffic signalling and telephones for the M1, M6 and M62 motorways), Standard Telephone & Cables (designed public telephone exchanges), GEC-Elliott Automation (designed the digital systems for airborne radar, early warning systems and underwater weapons) and Case Communications (digital multiplexor design).
In 1983, Alan joined Gandalf Technologies as Head of European Research & Development. In 1988, Alan moved to Chicago to take over the responsibility of Product Line Management for the company but in November 1989 due to heavy company losses Alan was made redundant (a little time later Gandalf was sold to Mitel). From November 1989 onwards, Alan has been an independent IT & Telecommunications consultant and has worked for a variety of companies in a number of different roles .
